A unique story behind a unique material

The Legacy

Anokho’s parent company, Khetan Business Corporation Pvt. Ltd. was founded in 1946 by Shri Bhagwati Prasad Khetan. The company was granted a set of mining leases in 1962, and has focused exclusively on mining since then. The company has always been 100% family-owned, and is currently managed by the third and fourth generation of promoters.

Throughout, the focus has been on safe, sustainable, and eco-friendly mining. Over the past 60 years of operations, there has not been a single serious injury or accident. This unsurpassed safety record was even acknowledged by the President of India, when we were awarded the Mines Safety Award for 2004, 2015 and 2017 for running the safest mines in India.

KBC is a very well respected name among the mining fraternity, as well as the local populace and organizations, thanks to a strong sense of ethics and social responsibility. Together with its sister companies, Bipiraj Finance Pvt. Ltd. and Samshaleen Exports Pvt. Ltd. it is a reputed source of the industrial minerals Dolomite and Soapstone (Talc), supplying to a variety of industrial uses such as paint, steel, soap, ceramics etc.

The Quarry

KBC’s mining leases cover an area of over 300 hectares. There is no forest land or game sanctuary in the core or buffer zone of the lease area. This area was first identified by British Geologist Dr. A. M. Heron in 1920, noting its unique geology.

A new direction

Inspired by the delicate color variations of the native Dolomite deposits, our MD Shri Rajendra Harlalka had a vision of mining blocks of Dolostone, as a superior alternative to marble. Intrusions of other minerals and an maze-like geology made this significantly more challenging than a typical marble quarry. Undeterred, after decades of investment and perseverance, the first Dolostone blocks were quarried in 2015.

The situation today

Under the KBC aegis, Anokho proudly stocks the widest range of colours of stone surfaces from a single quarry. Dolostone blocks are supplied to traders, while a large inventory of ready slabs is maintained for end customers. These slabs are suitable for use as flooring, wall-cladding and countertops.

Following a ‘Quarry to Home’ concept, Anokho is with you every step of the way. No order is too large or too small. From helping you pick your stone, to working with your architect to incorporate it into your designs, to delivery and installation help, we promise you an ‘Anokho’ experience.
